Commission: THE TWOSOME IS FORMED

Yesterday we found out what ideas got commissioned and Abbi's documentary 'Millennium Mum' got chosen! So Abbi and I were put in a group together. This is our new blog to document our journey to making 'Millennium Mum.'
This is the pitch for Millennium Mum:

My proposed documentry is based on the idea of a woman who fell pregnant in her teens and had her baby in the year 2000. It will be 10 minutes long and based on the story of Samantha Hubbard who is now 27 years old. Sam fell pregnant when she was 16 years of age and had her baby boy Jordon in October 2000, when she was 17.
This documentary will follow Sam's life from before she had Jordon with archive footage of her growing up as a baby and at secondary school, all the way through to when she fell pregnant and had Jordon. We will then follow Jordon's life through key moments such as the day he was born, his first day at school, all the way up until his first day at secondary school. this will be shown with archive videos and pictures.
I will then be having interviews over the top of these videos and pictures from people such as Sam and her closest friends and family. these interviews will include some running commentary of what we are seeing on screen, but also the opinions of Sam and the people closest to her about how her life has turned out since becoming a teen mum. this will include opinions of what people think, would have changed if Sam hadn't of had Jordon so young, what they think the negatives and positives are about Sam becoming a mum  so early on in life, and how they feel Jordon has turned out as a young boy due to Sam's parenting. I will also be asking Sam and her family and friends, some personal questions about how she was treated during her pregnancy. this is because views during the noughties decade about teen pregnancy where different to now. For example, when Sam was at school and pregnant, she was not given support by teachers when she needed it most.
Because of this difference in opinion, I am also going to go out onto the streets to interview the general public about their own views on teen pregnancy and if they feel the views have changed in the past ten years. Throughout the doc I will be having facts about teen pregnancy in the past ten years appearing to give the audience knowledge. For example since 2008 teen pregnancy numbers have dropped.
I believe this idea should be commissioned because not only is it a personal story from someone who went through a teen pregnancy themselves, it is also a story of a teen mother and her son and how they have both developed in the past ten years. it will also be a source of knowledge and make people aware of teen pregnancy in the UK.

Today we will be discussing possible sequences and the following interviews:
  • Lorraine Hubbard (Sams' mother)
  • Ian Hubbard (Sams' Father)
  • Ricky Hubbard (Sams' brother)
  • Shirley Harwood (Sams' grandmother)
  • Leanne O'mera (Sams' Best friend)
The reason we want all these people interviewed in our documentary is that it will show the different of opinions in the different generations.
